Flamingo cools off at Salina
Pink flamingo enjoys the cool water at the Salina saltpans
Photographer Ray Galea yesterday captured a pink flamingo as it enjoyed the cool water of the Salina saltpans.
The bird is a protected species in Malta.
Some birders believe that Salina’s saltpans offer a wonderful opportunity for breeding flamingoes. In fact, in similar saltpans across Sardinia and Corsica, flamingoes are known to breed in large numbers.
