The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that Malta will host in November is intended to give a boost to climate change initiatives, Environment Minister Leo Brincat said, while addressing a Sustainable Development Summit in New Delhi, India.

“Nothing is as capable as the Commonwealth in bringing together so many diverse countries- developed counties, emerging economies, and countries still in their early stage of development, all directly affected by the challenges of adapting to the climate,” Brincat said.

“The government is not only committed to breathing new life into the CHOGM itself but wants it to focus on climate change, only a few days before the United Nations Climate Change Conference, where crucial decisions that will directly impact the UN’s processes are expected to be made.”
