A Ta' Fra Ben kiosk was closed down today after it was found to be illegally providing deckchairs for the second day in a row

The Malta Tourism Authority and the Lands Authority this morning closed down a Ta’ Fra Ben kiosk after an inspection revealed that the operator had illegally set up about 70 deckchairs, just one day after a joint operation by the two authorities saw the removal of around a hundred deckchairs and over thirty umbrellas from the area.

Following yesterday’s joint operation, the MTA and the Lands Authority said they followed up their action with an inspection today, only to discover that the kiosk’s operator had continued with the illegal provision of deckchairs.

The two authorities fined the operator €5,000, which excluded any operational costs, and ordered the immediate closure of the kiosk.

In a statement, the authorities said the joint action is part of the ongoing drive aimed at ensuring that regulations are respected in full.

Further actions have already been taken at Armier Bay and Little Armier. Operators in other locations in Malta and Gozo are voluntarily taking action in order to regularise their position.
