Over 18 million litres of water reused in Malta through the Alter Aqua project

Science In The City will showcase the success of the Alter Aqua Project

The sustainable water programme Alter Aqua Project has succeeded to positively impact the lives of around 15% of the Maltese population by collecting and reusing close to 18 million litres of water on an annual basis – an equivalent of the monthly consumption of water for over 1,000 families in Malta.

The programme, funded through a $1 million investment by the Coca-Cola Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The Coca-Cola Company, will be on display at the Science In The City festival, on Ordinance Street in Valletta. Children can have fun whilst learning more about water conservation through an interactive digital game.

“GSD Marketing Ltd will be taking part in this years’ edition of Science In The City and will be showcasing the successes of the Alter Aqua Project. The project has made a significant impact in the Maltese islands throughout the past seven years by promoting the use of non-conventional water resources as a sustainable way to increase water availability and adapt to climate change at local level,” a company spokesperson said.

Alter Aqua goes beyond infrastructural projects by also focussing on educational campaigns aimed at raising awareness on the application of non-conventional water resources and sustainable water use in our schools.
