Festive hot chocolate

When it’s cold outside, there’s nothing like staying home and sitting on the sofa with a hot chocolate. Michael Diacono gives his hot chocolate a festive twist with a chocolate cinnamon cream. 

Festive hot chocolate


  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 50g semi sweet chocolate
  • 2 – 4 tbsp honey
  • ¾ cup milk
  • Cinnamon, for garnish


1.Heat the cream and the milk along with the dark and milk chocolate until the chocolate bits melt stirring all the time.

2.Add the honey and continue to stir.

3.When warm and the chocolate until it is completely melted.

4.Add the rum.

5.Whip the double cream and add some sugar and the cocoa powder.

6.Add a little bit of salt and mix well.

7.Fill the glasses with hot chocolate and add a dollop of chocolate cream on the top.

8.Sprinkle with cinnamon and a little more cocoa powder.
