More than 1,700 regular diners took part in the survey - the largest response to-date, voting for their favourite restaurants on the islands. As respondents eat out at least twice a week on average, this is the equivalent of more than 176,800 individual dining experiences. The 2012 edition sees 22 new restaurants entering the Guide including an increase in Malta Artisan Cuisine restaurants.

The results were revealed on 5 December when parliamentary secreatary Mario de Marco presented awards supplied by Continental Purchasing on behalf of Villeroy & Boch at the Guide's Gala Dinner - which has established itself over the last eleven years as the most prestigious food event in Malta and the equivalent of the 'Oscars for Restaurants'- at the Grand Ballroom, Radisson Blu Resort & Spa Golden Sands.

The Guide and the updated version with the latest survey results of www.restaurantsmalta.com were also launched on the evening.  Lisa Grech, Managing Director said of the Guide "we are delighted that 12 years on we are still considered to be the number one restaurant guide in Malta for objectivity and comprehensiveness. The Guide is survey based guaranteeing that the information is objective and impartial. It means that restaurant-goers who otherwise might feel uncomfortable voicing their thoughts to the restaurateur can feel more comfortable participating in a survey".
