Repeat offender charged with three separate thefts from the same vehicle

Cash, Airpods, sunglasses and a dashcam were stolen from the Ford Transit van during a two-month period

A 25-year-old man from Marsaskala was charged with three aggravated thefts from the same vehicle over the span of a month.

Gilmore Borg also faced charges for a separate incident in November, during which he allegedly caused slight injuries to another individual and was found in possession of an illegal weapon. Borg allegedly committed the offences during the operative period of a suspended sentence.

The three separate thefts, occurring on different days, were from the same Ford Transit van from the same road in Birkirkara. The first robbery occurred in early May where he allegedly stole cash, Airpods, a mobile phone charger and sunglasses.

Later in May, someone stole a pair of sunglasses from the same vehicle. A person then stole a €40 dashcam during a third theft which took place in June.

On 18 November, Borg was arrested following an assault on another man, involving a stabbing with the tip of a knife. Police reportedly identified him clearly in CCTV footage, which captured the incident.

The man pleaded not guilty and bail was not requested at this stage.

The prosecution was led by Inspectors Joseph Mallia and Ylenia Maria Xerri together with attorney general lawyer Giuliana Magro Conti.

Lawyer Axl Camilleri appeared for the man.
