Two St Vincent de Paule workers detained on suspicion of stealing foodstuffs

Two male workers at St Vincent de Paule Residence in Luqa have been detained for allegedly stealing foodstuffs from the old people’s home.

Two kitchen workers at St Vincent de Paule Residence in Luqa have been detained by police after allegedly stealing several foodstuffs from the residence's kitchen.

The alarm was raised in the afternoon when the two male workers – who are engaged by a private contractor – were searched upon finishing from work.

Sources told MaltaToday that the men were found to be in possession of preserve and bread, which had, allegedly, been stolen from the kitchen at St Vincent de Paule residence.

The workers, one of whom is a 28-year-old from Gharghur, have been detained by police.

They are being interrogated by police pending further investigations.

Inspector Hubert Cini and Police Sergeant Antoine Sacco are investigating.
