RIU police and District police had to intervene earlier this morning at Mount Carmel Hospital in Attard

Three police units from the Rapid Intervention Unit first arrived at Mount Carmel hospital following reports that patients attacked nursing officers. District police joined a further two RIU units on site as the situation at the hospital was brought under control. The detention vehicle was also on site.

Sources say that the conflict began when a migrant refused medication by injection and became aggressive. The police were called on site and in the mean time, another migrant grabbed a bed sheet and tried to commit suicide. The police thwarted his attempts.

District Police and RIU left the scene after the situation was brought under control.
