Swede, 22, conditionally discharged after causing damage to car whilst drunk

Claes Fredrik Brannlund was also charged with using obscene and indecent language and for breaching the peace.

A 22-year-old man from Sweden was conditionally discharged for two years this morning after pleading guilty to causing around €1,000 worth of damage to a vehicle which was parked in Sliema yesterday.

Claes Fredrik Brannlund also pleaded guilty to using obscene and indecent language, for breaching the peace and for being drunk in public.

Brannlund, who was represented by Jason Grima, had already paid for the damages caused by the time of the hearing.

In a separate case, Daryl Mark Pace, a 21-year-old man from Hamrun, was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,500 after he pleaded not guilty to stealing around €2,000 from a clothes shop in Msida.

Pace also pleaded not guilty to breaching conditions incurred from a previous sentence but his younger brother Brandon, 19, was handed an 18-month prison sentence – suspended for three years – after pleaded guilty for the same theft incident.

Veronique Dalli represented the two brothers.
