The Police’s communications office have confirmed that a woman requested police assistance and an ambulance at Triq Nicolas Cottoner in Gzira. According to initial information, assistance was required following an argument or commotion in the same street.

Although MaltaToday is still confirming incoming information, sources say police constable Paul Sheehan was hospitalised suffering from chest pain.

What has been established so far is that an ambulance was called at Sheehan’s residence. According to sources, Sheehan's brother allegedly got angry when, upon returning to their residence, found an on-site inquiry going on. Seeing his brother's angry reaction, Sheehan went inside the house and, allegedly, started throwing things around. Assistance was called and Sheehan hospitalised.

In fact, a commotion was heard from inside the Sheehan residence and several items were broken.

Initially, it was believed that police officers had descended to his place to pick Sheehan up after the Nationalist Party this afternoon held a press conference announcing that Sheehan was to be arraigned.

According to PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami, Sheehan will “probably be charged with attempted murder".

MaltaToday has sent questions to the Police's communications office.
