A man says he was manhandled by police officer who he photographed drinking alcohol while on duty in Paceville strip joint
A Police Sergeant is being accused of manhandling and threatening a man who photographed the uniformed officer drinking alcohol while on duty in a strip club in Paceville.
After filing a report about the incident at the Police Depot in Floriana, the 31-year-old man who was maltreated circulated the report to the media.
Meanwhile, today the police issued a statement confirming that the case is being investigated.
The victim, Karl Baldacchino, is claiming that in the early hours of Boxing Day he spotted Police Sergeant 928 drinking alcohol at the bar in a gentleman's club in Paceville.
“Somebody drew his attention that I had snapped a photo in the state he was and upon learning this, PS 928 walked over to me grabbed me by the neck and told me to delete the photo,” Baldacchino wrote, adding that after insisting that he would not delete the photo since they were in a public space, the police sergeant and other officers forcefully dragged him out of the club.
After being dragged out, Baldacchino said that he was hit in the face, had his arm twisted as PS 928 asked him to hand over the phone.
Baldacchino added that at this point a threatening PS 928 boasted that he wasn’t scared of anyone and could do as he pleased.
The victim was then allegedly dragged into the police van parked in the Paceville main square and before handing the phone over, PS 928 asked Baldacchino whether he was scared of having paedophile pornographic photos discovered on his phone.
