Woman pleads guilty to trafficking by sharing, gets conditional discharge

32-year-old handed conditional discharge after defense counsel maintains she did not intend to sell the substances

A woman from Xghajra has been conditionally discharged after she admitted to charges of trafficking amphetamines by sharing and cocaine possession.

32-year old Charlene-Connie Micallef appeared in court before Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras charged with having been in possession of and having trafficked the drug at a dance music event at the MFCC, which had been held between 30 April and 1 May 2010. She was also found to be in possession of cocaine.

Micallef admitted to the charges, although her defence counsel had explained that she had only shared it with her friends and had not intended to sell the substance.

The court handed Micallef a 30-month conditional discharge.

Police Inspector Pierre Grech prosecuted. Lawyers Franco Debono, Marion Camilleri and Amadeus Cachia defended Micallef.
