Prostitute with 16-page criminal record jailed after prison drug bust

A surprise search by guards at the Corradino Correctional Facility on 7 October, 2012 had resulted in the drugs being found on the person of Jacqueline Rapinett.

A 38-year-old prostitute with over 27 previous convictions, relating in the main to loitering and prostitution, has been jailed once again after she admitted to having been in possession of heroin in prison.

A surprise search by guards at the Corradino Correctional Facility on 7 October, 2012 had resulted in the drugs being found on the person of Jacqueline Rapinett.

The woman pleaded guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Natasha Galea Sciberras was told that the woman was attending a residential drug rehabilitation programme and had demonstrated a desire to kick her heroin habit. However the court said that at the same time, it could not disregard Rapinett’s expansive criminal record, which it noted was 16 pages long.

The court sentenced Rapinett to three months imprisonment, which she will serve while attending a residential drug rehabilitation programme.
