Court orders repatriation of homeless Serbian charged with receiving stolen goods

Sinisa Maksic was charged with having stolen a laptop from a restaurant in St. Paul’s Bay yesterday afternoon, receiving stolen goods and vagabondage.

A court has ordered the removal from Malta of a homeless 37-year old Serbian man who admitted to having received stolen goods.

Inspector Godwin Scerri charged Sinisa Maksic with having stolen a laptop from a restaurant in St. Paul’s Bay yesterday afternoon, receiving stolen goods and vagabondage.

Magistrate Carol Peralta was told how the man, was lived on the street, hid his belongings in bushes along the Bugibba promenade.

Legal aid lawyer Martin Fenech told the court that his client had since returned the device.

The court handed Maksic a two-year sentence, suspended for four. He also ordered that the man be immediately removed from Malta, but not before warning him of the consequences of being found guilty of another offence in the next four years.
