Couple admit to €659 shopping spree with stolen card

Donna Camilleri from Santa Luċija and boyfriend-pimp Kyle Mifsud from Cospicua changed their plea to guilty during proceedings.

A prostitute and her boyfriend-pimp have been jailed and placed under probation, respectively after entering a late guilty plea to charges of theft and fraud.

Donna Camilleri from Santa Luċija and Kyle Mifsud from Cospicua had initially denied charges of stealing a handbag from an parked car in Marsascala in May.

The couple used the stolen cash and credit card to go on a of €659 shopping spree, buying mobile phones and jewellery. Camilleri and Mifsud are well acquainted with prisons, both having been sentenced to jail last October for stealing a client’s wallet. Camilleri has a string of previous convictions related to prostitution and theft.

Today, magistrate Doreen Clarke sentenced Camilleri to imprisonment for a year and confiscated her €3,000 guarantee, ordering it to be paid in instalments of €85. Mifsud was handed a two-year probation order.
