Man remanded in custody after drugs squad finds a kilo of cannabis in his car

The drugs were found in a car in Qormi Road, Hamrun, by members of the Drugs Squad.

A 26-year-old man from St Venera was remanded in custody this morning, after being charged in connection with yesterday's discovery of a one-kilo stash of cannabis resin.

Inspector Nikolai Sant charged Timothy Joseph Agius of being in possession of cannabis resin, together with an unspecified amount of cocaine, in circumstances which indicated that neither were intended for his personal use.

The drugs were found in a car in Qormi Road, Hamrun, by members of the Drugs Squad.

Agius was also charged with trafficking drugs less than 100 metres away from a school, club or any other place frequented by youths.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto entered a plea of not guilty and requested bail.

Magistrate Joseph Mifsud rejected this request and ordered the man be remanded in custody.
