Woman in critical condition after being run over in Sliema

A pedestrian has been left fighting for her life in hospital after she was run over in Sliema, yesterday evening.

Police say the 50-year old Sliema resident had been crossing the road at The Strand at around 8:15pm, when she was struck by a Peugeot 407 being driven by a 20-year old man from Gzira. The Peugeot also rammed into another vehicle that had been parked nearby.

Emergency doctors at Mater Dei Hospital certified the woman as having suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident, which is now the subject of a police investigation.
