A man was robbed of the money in his pockets as he made his way to his field early this morning, according to a police report.

Police sources said that the 47-year-old Mgarr resident had filed a report at the Mosta police station at 4:30am, alleging that he was assaulted and robbed by three men on Burmarrad Road, St Paul’s Bay.

The assailants reportedly stole a considerable amount of cash.

The man also sought medical treatment for wounds sustained from the assault at the Mosta health centre, where it was later declared that he was suffering from grievous injuries.

Duty magistrate Caroline Farrigia Frendo ordered an inquiry into the case.

Police investigations are still under way.
