A man has been placed on probation after he admitted to having stolen a DJ's sound mixer from a club early on Sunday morning.

Alessio Scano, a 41-year-old Italian expat, appeared in court before magistrate Josette Demicoli this morning. Scano is understood to have been the worse for drink on Saturday night when he decided to try and remove the DJ's mixer from Liquid Club in Iklin.

Inspector Roderick Spiteri charged Scano with theft, aggravated by time and value of the object stolen.

The court was told that the item had been returned to its rightful owner.

Lawyer Patrick Valentino told the court this morning that the accused was admitting the charges.

Scano was handed an 18 month probation order for the crime.
