A “suspicious package” that was reported in Xaghra, Gozo, earlier today has turned out to be a discarded shoebox, according to state media.

The Armed Forces of Malta’s Bomb Disposal Unit this morning responded to reports of a suspicious package beneath a private vehicle on Triq il-Knisja at about 10:45am.

While the police are still currently not in a position to divulge or confirm any details, state media reported that investigations proved the package to be a discarded shoebox that was blown under the pick-up truck. Upon noticing the box, the vehicle’s worried owner contacted the police.
