A man recently jailed for committing six thefts in one night has been given additional jail time after being linked to more thefts that happened that night.

Allan Grima had been jailed for one year, two weeks ago, after he admitted to breaking in to six cars in one night to finance his drug habit. He had been charged with three counts of aggravated theft and three counts of attempted aggravated theft, as well as six counts of criminal damage to the parked cars, all of which had been broken into in the night between 11 and 12 February. By doing so, he had also breached bail conditions he had been handed just 10 days before. This morning Grima admitted to a further two thefts which were committed during the same crime spree.

The 34-year-old from Kalkara pleaded guilty to stealing €30 in cash from a parked pickup truck in Valletta and to causing damage to the vehicle. He was handed a 16-month prison sentence.

His accomplice, unemployed Mohamed Mokthar Mohamed Jamhur, 25, from Libya this morning admitted to complicity in the theft of €30 and breaching the conditions of a suspended sentence. Janpur who had already been placed on probation last November, had the probation order extended to four years.

Jamhur was handed an 18 month sentence suspended for three years in November, having been charged with threatening his wife's lover

Magistrate Doreen Clarke presided. Inspector Jeffrey Scicluna prosecuted. Lawyer Victor Bugeja assisted Jamhur whilst lawyer Martin Fenech was counsel to Grima.
