Internet singing sensation Charlene Victoria Mula has been conditionally discharged after she was convicted of having stolen cash and gold from a residence in 2015.

25-year-old Mula, whose throaty rendition of 'Tort ta' Min' on a local TV talent show in 2009 went viral on YouTube, received a three-year conditional discharge after she pleaded guilty to charges of theft, aggravated by person, place and value. The value of the items stolen was in excess of €2,300.

The theft took place in May 2015, from a house in Marsaxlokk.

No further details about the case emerge from the two-page judgement, which was handed down yesterday.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit, after noting that the accused had repaid her victim in full and had no previous convictions for any offences, released the singer on condition that she does not commit another offence in the next three years. She was found not guilty of handling stolen goods.

Inspector Kevin Pulis prosecuted.
