A 30-year-old St Venera man has suffered grievous burn injuries after attempting to put out a burning car in Hamrun in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Triq il-Fatati at about 12:30am, finding upon arrival a burning BMW X5.

The Civil Protection Department was called to assist in extinguishing the flames.

The man, who was on site before the police’s arrival, suffered grievous injuries as he attempted to put out the fire himself.

Duty magistrate Aaron Bugeja has ordered an enquiry into the case, assisted by several experts.
