Man injured in attempt to rescue two persons from assault

A 37-year-old Libyan man suffered grievous injuries during a brawl, which saw aggressors smash a glass on his head as he tried to stop a group of people from assaulting two other persons seated next to him.

According to police, the incident was carried out at about 10:30pm yesterday in Bugibba square, by who they believe to be foreign nationals.

During the altercation, another Libyan national, 25, was also grievously injured.

Police were informed of the case shortly after 1:00am after a formal report was made.

Investigations are still ongoing.
