Three individuals were denied bail by the courts on Sunday after they were apprehended trying to enter the country using falsified travel documents.

Momodu Kamara, 26 of Sierra Leone; Marrah Sallay, 25 and also from Sierra Leone; and 30-year-old Weini Goitom Fitwi from Eritrea, were yesterday charged with being in possession of three falsified German Schengen Visas.

The three were also charged with knowingly making use of the forged documents.

The three claimed they were not aware that the documents were false.

Given that they had no fixed address in Malta, the courts denied their request for bail and they were remanded in custody.
