Residents evacuated after fire breaks out in Gzira apartment, one hospitalised

One person had to be hospitalised and 19 treated on site after fire broke out in a block of apartments near Rue d'Argens in Gżira in the early morning.

Police said that the blaze was reported at 4am in Triq ir-Rebħa and that the Civil Protection Department, police and ambulances were on site soon after. The fire has been extinguished, police confirmed.

Health minister Chris Fearne tweeted details of the medical treatment given to the residents.
