An elderly man has been severly injured after being hit by a car on Sunday evening in Gozo.

The incident occurred at 6.10pm in Imgarr Road, Ghajnsielem.

The police said an investigation revealed that a 68-year-old man from Birzebbugia was hit by a car, a Land Rover Freelander, that was being driven by a 51-year-old German woman residing in Ghajnsielem.

An ambulance took the victim to Gozo General Hospital for further treatment.

Magistrate Joanne Vella Cuschieri has started an inquiry on the case.

An investigation is ongoing.
