Tourist rescued by AFM after falling into rough seas at Sliema

The Armed Forces of Malta have rescued a foreign national who fell into the sea near Exiles in Sliema, the police have confirmed.

A spokesperson said that at 4:20pm, the police were informed that two people had fallen into the sea.

One of the two appears to have managed to make it back to shore, having sustained some slight injuries.

The other man was dragged out to sea by the waves resulting from the stormy weather currently hitting Malta. 

The man was eventually rescued by the Armed Forces of Malta and taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The condition of the two men is unknown at this time.
