Man grievously injured after falling off horse at Marsa race track

A man has been grievously injured after the horse he was riding collapsed and died.

The police said in a statement that the incident happened at 9am at the Marsa racetrack.

The 59-year-old man from Luqa was taken to Mater Dei for treatment and was certified as having sustained grievous.

The horse died on the spot.
