Knife attack at train station in Hamburg, Germany’s second-largest city, leaves 12 injured • Suspect, a 39-year-old woman, is arrested

An assailant stabbed 12 people at the central railway station in the German city of Hamburg, on Friday evening, the German police said.
The person attacked people with a knife on the platform between tracks 13 and 14 in the station of Germany’s second-largest city. The station is one of the busiest in the country.
Hamburg’s fire service said six people sustained life-threatening injuries, while another three were seriously injured and three had slight injuries.
The police said a 39-year-old woman was arrested, but did not reveal her identity. Officers said they “believe she acted alone” and investigations into the attack are continuing.
There was no immediate information on a possible motive.
Police have cordoned off part of the complex, which is significantly busier on Friday afternoon.
