Civil society NGO Repubblika have called out the Prime Minister for using the Labour Party television station ONE TV to announced national decisions.

“Despite the fact that five months have passed since he was appointed Prime Minister, Robert Abela has still not realised that he was appointed as Prime Minister and not only as the leader of the Labour Party,” a statement by the NGO read.

Repubblika said that while it doesn’t have much faith in the fairness and impartiality of the state broadcaster, it still insisted announcements are made there.

“Robert Abela’s flagrant use of his party’s media to express Government business is revealing of his arrogance towards Maltese citizens, without any respect for the individual views of each citizen,” it said.

The PM announced on Sunday that government would be lifting the state of public health emergency, while stating that all travel restrictions would be removed as of 15 July.

He was fielding questions from MaltaToday’s Kurt Sansone, The Malta Independent’s Neil Camilleri and NET News journalist Christine Amaira.

“Robert Abela seems to have acquired this arrogant attitude from Joseph Muscat,” Repubblika said.
