PN condemns Abela’s ‘intimidation’ of public sector workers over election result
PN says it will stand foursquare behind public sector workers to ensure they carry out their job diligently and without intimidation
The Nationalist Party has condemned what it described as Robert Abela’s intimidation of public sector employees by blaming them for the Labour Party’s dismal election result.
PN spokespersons Claudette Buttigieg and Ivan Castillo said the Prime Minister’s reaction to blame civil service workers for the election result signalled “panic”.
“The PN condemns Robert Abela’s threats towards civil service employees and encourages them to continue doing what is right,” the spokespersons said. They added: “These workers are the guardians of justice and are the only ones who can stop the abuse perpetrated by Robert Abela and his friends.”
Buttigieg and Castillo said the PN will stand foursquare behind public sector workers and will ensure that no one is intimidated or bullied. “The PN will ensure that every worker will be allowed to perform their duty in a diligent manner without intimidation.”
The spokespersons were referring to comments Abela gave on Monday outside parliament where he referred to the public administration as one of the issues that had to be addressed in the aftermath of the European election result.
