As President of the PN’s administrative council, Karol Aquilina is expected to oversee the party’s commercial companies and electoral structures. He is also responsible for the vetting of candidates standing for elections.

Interviewed by James Debono, Aquilina says the way local council candidates are chosen has to be reviewed due to difficulties faced by the PN with several candidates and mayors elected who had to resign.

“We surely cannot afford to choose candidates on the eve of an election. The process of becoming a candidate should be spread over a period of time and not a few days,” Aquilina said.

Aquilina proposes several factors, including experience in administrative structures, that would help improve the selection of candidates and uses his personal experience to explain what the selection process requires in order to be taken seriously.
