Arrested for threatening to blow up Hamrun council

Mark Anthony Galea, a director of Knight Music shop in Hamrun, was charged before Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna for "having threatened to blow up" the Hamrun local clerk during an altercation he had with a council employee.

Hamrun council's clerk Tiziana Bajada testified that Galea telephoned the council to protest against a new parking directive in his area. She told him that he could attend the next council meeting and raise his objections there.

Instead, she said he started to swear on the phone and said he would come for the meeting "to make a scene". She added that he threatened to blow up the council offices, so she proceede to file a police report.

Galea was arrested and arraigned under citation. The case continues.
