Four-day-old Little Ringed Plover chicks were spotted at the Ghadira Nature Reserve today by Birdlife Malta who is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.

This is not a rare sight since these birds have selected this reserve as their breeding grounds for a number of times every year.

The chicks were observed by a number of school children on an educational outing.

Although running freely, the chicks remained under the watchful eyes of both parents. Whenever danger was sensed or the heat too strong, the chicks sheltered underneath the adults for protection.
