Fire at San Gwann industrial estate
The civil protection department was called to put under control a grass fire that engulfed a small industrial field containing wooden pallets, in the San Gwann industrial estate.
The fire could be seen from surrounding villages in Kappara and Birkirkara, as a thick black plume of smoke rose over the industrial estate where Foster Clarks and Zamco are located.
Some 16 firefighters with six fire engines and a privately-owned water bowser were on scene fighting the fire.
