Minister unaware that Boffa Hospital is to become hotel

Health Minister is unaware of government plans to turn Boffa Hospital into a hotel despite notice nailed to hospital walls by MEPA announcing public consultation.

Less than a month ago in parliament, Health Minister Joe Cassar claimed that there were, as yet, no plans on how Boffa Hospital was to be used once the new oncology hospital was completed near Mater Dei.

However, a notice by MEPA nailed to the wall of the same building reveals that despite Cassar’s response in parliament, there were indeed clear plans for this building to be passed on to the private sector to be turned into a hotel.

MEPA’s notice states that the process of public consultation has begun regarding an ‘environment and development brief’ to turn the King George V Seamen’s Memorial building into a hotel.
