European Commission closes six infringement proceedings against Malta
Malta Records an impressive three consecutive months of infringement closures by the European Commission.
For three consecutive months between April and June, the European Commission adopted a decision to close two outstanding proceedings against Malta.
The decision has resulted in the closure of six infringement proceedings against Malta since April.
"It is worth noting that further to the above-mentioned closures, the Commission has not taken action against Malta since March," a spokesperson for deputy prime minister Louis Grech said.
"This significant accomplishment reflects the commitment of the Government in ensuring the proper transposition and application of EU law."
In all cases, Malta is now in line with EU legislation.
The office of the deputy prime minister said the results confirmed Malta "as one of the best performers in the EU" in terms of transposing EU legislation.
