Auberge de Castille’s gate back in its place
Mystery of the ‘vanishing’ Castille gate solved as restored antique is now back to its former glory.
A couple of weeks ago, concerned readers approached Sunday newspaper Illum reporting that a small iron gate in front of Auberge de Castille's main door had "vanished".
But what might have appeared to be a prank call, turned out to be true: according to Illum, a spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister later confirmed the gate had indeed been removed "for restoration purposes".
Illum adds the OPM's reply only materialised after the gate was back in its place.
