100 migrants from Malta soon on their way to Germany - Interior minister Freidrich
German interior minister Hans-Peter Freidrich stressed today that Germany will be taking 100 migrants from Malta in "the coming days."
Speaking in Berlin Freidrich was reacting to comments by Italy in a spat over the Schengen Treaty, whereby Germany has closed its borders for Tunisian economic migrants that were granted a temporary landing visa that could lead them to travel Northwards to the German border.
Freidrich stated that "Germany only accepts needy asylum-seekers, like the 100 which are expected to arrive in the coming days after processing is completed in Malta."
He also announced tougher controls at the borders.
