Air Malta temporarily cancels Tripoli flights

Air Malta has temporarily cancelled its daily scheduled flights to Tripoli, due to closure of Tripoli International Airport.

Air Malta today said that it has temporarily cancelled its daily scheduled flights to Tripoli, due to closure of Tripoli International Airport.

The airport was closed after militias clashed in the vicinity of the airport.

Air Malta said that it cancelled its flights after Tripoli International Airport officials stated the airport could remain closed for a number of days due to security concerns.

A spokesperson for the airline stated, “Air Malta is constantly monitoring the situation through its officials based in Tripoli. Safety is Air Malta’s number one priority and the airline will resume services to the city when it is safe and secure to do so.”

Customers booked on Air Malta flights to Tripoli are being offered a full refund of their tickets or the possibility to change their date of departure for free.

Air Malta’s flights to Benghazi are also suspended following the closure of the airport in May of this year.
