UHM registers industrial dispute with MEPA over ‘unjust’ shop steward transfer

Union Haddiema Maghqudin registers industrial dispute with MEPA after one of its shop stewards was 'unjustly' transferred.

The Union Haddiema Maghqudin has registered an industrial dispute with MEPA over allegations that one of the union’s shop stewards was unjustly transferred to another section within MEPA.

“Despite our repeated inquiries to MEPA as to why this person was transferred, we have yet to receive a valid explanation,” the UHM said in a statement. “It appears as though this transfer was carried out without any transparency or consultation.

“It is unacceptable for such an abrupt transfer to take place without it having followed an established model.”

They pointed out that they were in the middle of negotiations with a government change agent regarding the structure of MEPA’s environment sector.

“It is unacceptable that, in the middle of these negotiations, our shop steward was transferred to another position that MEPA had known would be vacant eight months ago,” the union said.
