Government says the opposition is 'panicking' and 'scared of a major scandal'

The government insisits that the PN's claims about a conflict of interest for former judge Philip Sciberras is a result of 'panicking' and 'fear of a major scandal'

The opposition has once again chosen to attack and undermine the work of respected members of the inspection board led by former Judge Philip Sciberras, the government said in a statement issued earlier today.

Scibberas and the inspection board is investigating the inferior quality of concrete used in the Emergency department at Mater Dei, but he isa also father to FSM board secretary Alex Sciberras. The opposition has claimed that this could present a conflict of interest in the investigation.

“The opposition is panicking and it is scared of this major scandal,” the statement reads waving away the accusations as a reaction to the potential scandal.

“It would be much more responsible of the leader of the opposition to ensure that the whole truth is being said to the public rather than trying to hide behind personal attacks against respected members of the judiciary who had ultimately been appointed by the previous government.
