Further resignations are expected in the wake of the publication of an NAO report into an expropriation deal struck between the lands department and Marco Gaffarena. The lands department's director of estate management Carmel Camilleri has already resigned.

After what this newspaper calls nine months of 'inaction', the PM and the police force are taking action in the Gaffarena expropriation case. There is further speculation on whether all the relevant lands department documents are accessible.

Prime minister Joseph Muscat yesterday began legal proceedings to have the expropriation deal reversed, opening a case before the First Hall of the Civil Court to have the transaction nullified and the money returned.

The government has offered a temporary venue for Friday prayers, after the Muslim community had been holding open-air prayers in Msida. The Ospizio complex in Floriana has been offered until a permanent venue can be found.
