Bishop of Gozo to hold pilgrimage to pray for rain

Farmers have expressed concern over how the dry, warm winter will affect their harvests

In what seems to be a throwback to prehistoric attempts at inducing rain, Bishop of Gozo Mgr Mario Grech will be leading a penitential pilgrimage in an effort to convince the Almighty to end the winter drought.

Farmers have indeed expressed concerns about how the dry, warm winter will effect their crops. Sellers at the farmers' market told MaltaToday that the harvest of summer fruits is expected to be quite poor, if the weather pattern persists.

The old school attempt at precipitating precipitation will take place next Sunday, and will begin at the Qala parish church at 4pm and end at the Sanctuary of the Immaculate Conception, also in Qala.
