In the Press: Gender pay gap in Malta amongst worst in Europe

Maltese women paid on average 11% less than men, a study funded by the European Commission reveals. This figure is well below the EU average, being the fourth lowest when compared to other European member states. The study spans across the four largest industries, with the gender pay gap varying from 2% to 21%.

Gas emissions in Marsa have dropped by around 80% following the shut down of the Enemalta power station last year. The power station has been on cold standby since the beginning of 2015, resulting in a 761,000 tonne drop in CO2 emissions and an 80% drop in SO2, shifting closer to the averages of other areas.

A Maltese man and his three children pleaded guilty to charges of human trafficking in court yesterday. The owners of Mr Clean and Servizzi Malta admitted to trafficking Filippinas by offering them a work contract when they were still in the Philippines, only for them to be met with unreasonable working conditions once they arrive in Malta.

Discussions with the government-favoured bidder for the White Rocks Project will begin at the end of next month. The preferred bidder will be chosen based on its ability to negotiate between the land’s use and the geographical aspects of the location.
