Controversial pig race cancelled, MP announces on Facebook
PN MP Mario Galea confirms that Fondazzjoni Nazareth has rejected the pig race
A pig race that was to be held during Zejtun’s bacon festival has been cancelled after the board of the Fondazzjoni Nazareth decided against holding the race.
The food festival, celebrating everything bacon, was to include a pig race and proceeds would go to Dar Nazareth. However, PN MP and well-known animal lover Mario Galea was among those who protested against the pig race.
On Facebook, he today announced that the race had been cancelled and that “common sense” has won.
The bacon festival, to be held on July 6 at Pjazza tas-Suq starting at 7pm till midnight, is being held in aid of Fondazzjoni Nazareth of Zejtun.
Dar Nazareth provides shelter for people with special needs, who have no family or cannot live with their family whatever reason.
