General Services sectoral agreement review commences - UHM
A review of the sectoral agreement for the general services had begun - thanks to pressure on the Public Administration Human Resources Office Director General, the Senior Industrial Relations Manager, and Joint Negotiation Team, the UHM said.
In a statement, the Civil Servants’ division of the Union Haddiema Maghqudin (UHM) said that during a meeting held to discuss this review, the union explained its proposals in detail.
The workers that will be affected by the agreement review are all the civil servants employed the grades of Clerks, Senior Clerks, Executive Officers, Assistant Principals, Senior Principals, and Assistant Directors.
The UHM presented proposals that detail how the structure governing these grades should be reviews, as well as proposals on how vacancies falling within these grades should be filled up.
The UHM said that the last review of this sectoral agreement took place in 2001 and due to changes that took place in other sectors as well as changes in work practices, the UHM feels that there should also be a revision in this agreement. This revision would address the reality that civil servants are facing today, as well as to create progressive development within the civil servants currently occupying these grades.
Also present for this meeting, the UHM said, was Principal Permanent Secretary Godwin Grima.
