A €10,000 transport fund has been launched by the University Students’ Council (KSU) and the Malta Public Transport, aimed at incentivising and strengthening the use of public transport as an alternative means of transport to and from the University campus.

Based on the feedback received after last year’s initiative, students will now be eligible to a 50% discount applicable over thee months of travel.

The maximum a student can be charged on their tallinja card in a month is €21. Therefore, under this fund, students can have their tallinja card topped up with €10.50 every month for three months.

In order to be eligible for the fund, students must agree to have their parking permit revoked for three months, or in the case of those who do not currently hold a KSU parking permit, they must agree not to apply for one within the next three months.

According to a joint statement, Malta Public Transport believes that the fund will not only benefit its users, but also the public in general, as it is expected to contribute towards decreasing traffic congestion.

Students already in possession of a tallinja card can apply through the KSU website.
